Following registration and permit formalities, your trek begins through dense tropical rainforest filled with towering trees, colorful birds, and unique mountain vegetation. The trail gradually ascends along well maintained paths, offering a pleasant introduction to the mountain. Keep an eye out for black-and-white colobus monkeys that are often spotted in this section of the forest. As you gain altitude, the cool mountain air and peaceful surroundings create an exciting start to your adventure. Upon arrival at Mandara Hut, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful forest setting while your mountain crew prepares dinner. The gradual ascent allows your body to continue adapting to the increasing altitude while enjoying some of Kilimanjaro's most beautiful scenery. Upon reaching Horombo Hut, you will be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views and a comfortable resting place.
