The day begins with an early morning pickup from Arusha or Moshi, followed by a scenic drive through lush coffee farms and rural villages toward Londorossi Gate on Kilimanjaro’s western side. After registration, you proceed to the Shira Plateau trailhead, located at about 3,500 meters. Your guided hike takes you across vast alpine moorlands filled with giant lobelias, everlasting flowers, and unique high-altitude vegetation. Wildlife sightings may include colobus monkeys, bushbucks, and diverse bird species. Along the trail, you enjoy spectacular views of Kibo Peak and the dramatic Shira Cathedral formations. The experience offers a peaceful and immersive introduction to Kilimanjaro’s ecosystem without requiring a full summit climb. After exploring and enjoying a picnic style lunch in the highlands, you descend and drive back to Arusha or Moshi, arriving in the late afternoon with unforgettable memories of Tanzania’s mountain wilderness.
