Fly-In Arrival and Lion Tracking Field Introduction
Your research journey begins with a scenic flight from Arusha to Seronera Airstrip, where you are welcomed by a professional conservation researcher and safari guide. After a short briefing on research protocols and safety, you head into the Central Serengeti for your first field experience. The afternoon is dedicated to tracking collared lions that follow the Great Migration herds of wildebeest and zebra. Learn how GPS data is interpreted and how lion movements are linked to prey availability. Witness real-time predator behavior while contributing to ongoing conservation efforts before returning to camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, join researchers for a full day of field data collection focused on wildebeest population density in the Central Serengeti migration corridor. During migration season, massive herds stretch across the landscape, providing valuable research opportunities. Enjoy a bush lunch while continuing observations in the field. Your role helps support long term conservation planning and ecosystem monitoring. Predator-Prey Observation Logs and Fly-Out Departure
Begin your final morning with an early field session assisting researchers in documenting predator prey interactions within the migration ecosystem. Observe lions, cheetahs, and hyenas tracking or engaging with moving herds of wildebeest and zebra. Record behavioral notes under expert supervision, contributing to ongoing scientific databases. After completing morning observations, return to camp for breakfast and final debriefing. Later, transfer to Seronera Airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Arusha. Upon arrival, you will be met by your safari driver for transfer to your hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport, marking the end of your impactful research volunteer migration experience.
