Day 1 Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park Afternoon Game Drive

SGR Train to Morogoro, Scenic Drive & Plains Game Drive

Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your Dar es Salaam hotel or agreed location within the city's limits and transfer to the SGR Station for your train to Morogoro departing at 06:00 / 07:40h. Upon arrival at Morogoro SGR Station, you will be met by a BMC TOURS & SAFARIS guide and enjoy a short breakfast stop in Morogoro en route to Mikumi National Park. Upon arrival at Mikumi, enjoy mid-morning game drives.

After checking into your lodge, enjoy a hot lunch. Following a short siesta, embark on an afternoon game drive across the famous Mkata floodplain, the prime time for spotting wildlife as animals gather at waterholes and predators begin to stir at dusk. Expect to encounter herds of elephants, graceful giraffes, buffalo, zebras, wildebeests, and perhaps lions resting in the shade. As the sun sets over the savannah, you'll return to your lodge.

Day 2 Sunrise Game Drive & Return to Dar es Salaam

Hippo Pools, Golden Hour Safari & SGR Siding Morogoro

Mikumi Hippo Pools Safari

Wake before dawn for an early morning game drive, when the golden light bathes the park and wildlife is most active. Your BMC TOURS & SAFARIS guide will navigate the park's woodlands and waterholes in search of any animals you may have missed, including hippos at the hippo pools, leopards, and the park's diverse antelope species. After several hours of game viewing, you'll return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast.

If time and interest allow, you may visit a traditional Maasai boma to experience their captivating dances and learn about their pastoral way of life. After lunch, you'll begin the journey back to Dar es Salaam, with your BMC guide ensuring a comfortable drive. You'll be dropped at Morogoro SGR Train station for the train departing at 19:25 / 21:10h. On arrival, you will be met and dropped off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your memorable 2-day Mikumi safari.
