Day 1 Dar es Salaam to Mikumi – A Journey into the Wild

SGR Train Transfer to Morogoro, Mkata Floodplain Afternoon Drive & Sunset Safari

Mikumi National Park Mkata Floodplain Wildlife Drive

Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your Dar es Salaam hotel or agreed location within city's limits and transfer to the SGR Station for your train to Morogoro departing at 06:00 / 07:40h. Upon arrival at Morogoro SGR Station, you will be met by your BMC TOURS & SAFARIS guide and enjoy a short breakfast stop in Morogoro en route to Mikumi National Park. Upon arrival at Mikumi National Park, enjoy mid-morning game drives.

In the afternoon, check into your lodge and enjoy a hot lunch. After a short siesta, enjoy an afternoon game drive across the famous Mkata floodplain—the prime time for spotting wildlife as animals gather at waterholes and predators begin to stir at dusk. Expect to encounter herds of elephants, graceful giraffes, buffalo, zebras, wildebeests, and perhaps lions resting in the shade. As the sun sets over the savannah, you'll return to your lodge.

Day 2 Full Day of Gentle Wildlife Discovery in Mikumi

All-Day Savannah Exploration, Hippo Pool Picnic Lunch & Big Game Tracking

Elephants and Lions in Mikumi National Park

After a relaxed breakfast, you will set off for a full day of exploration inside Mikumi National Park. Your BMC guide knows the best spots to find the park's residents—lions resting in the shade, herds of elephants crossing the plains, and zebras grazing alongside wildebeests. The park is home to over 400 bird species, so keep your binoculars ready for lilac-breasted rollers and African fish eagles.

You will stop for a peaceful picnic lunch at a scenic spot inside the park, perhaps near the hippo pool where you can watch these enormous creatures wallow and play. The afternoon offers more gentle game viewing, with time to simply sit and absorb the tranquility. As the day cools, you will return to your lodge for dinner and another comfortable night, sharing stories of the day's encounters.

Wake to the soft light of dawn and enjoy an early breakfast before heading into Mikumi National Park for one final morning game drive. This is a magical time when animals are most active, and the golden light creates beautiful photo opportunities—lions beginning their day, elephants making their way to water.

After several hours of gentle exploration, mid-morning exit the park and drive to Morogoro Train Station for the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) train which departs at 16:25 / 18:10h. On arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will be met and dropped off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your memorable 3-day Mikumi safari.
