Welcome to a refreshing getaway that takes you from Tanzania's bustling coastal city into the peaceful heart of the wilderness. This 3-day safari is perfectly designed for travelers seeking a comfortable and unhurried introduction to African wildlife. Mikumi National Park, just a scenic drive and SGR train ride from Dar es Salaam, offers rolling savannahs, ancient baobab trees, and the famous Mkata Floodplain teeming with elephants, giraffes, lions, and zebras. You will stay in a welcoming lodge near the park, enjoy delicious meals, and explore at a gentle pace with plenty of time to simply sit and absorb the beauty around you. Your BMC TOURS & SAFARI guide ensures every moment feels effortless, safe, and deeply connected to nature.
Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your Dar es Salaam hotel or agreed location within city's limits and transfer to the SGR Station for your train to Morogoro departing at 06:00 / 07:40h. Upon arrival at Morogoro SGR Station, you will be met by your BMC TOURS & SAFARIS guide and enjoy a short breakfast stop in Morogoro en route to Mikumi National Park. Upon arrival at Mikumi National Park, enjoy mid-morning game drives.
In the afternoon, check into your lodge and enjoy a hot lunch. After a short siesta, enjoy an afternoon game drive across the famous Mkata floodplain—the prime time for spotting wildlife as animals gather at waterholes and predators begin to stir at dusk. Expect to encounter herds of elephants, graceful giraffes, buffalo, zebras, wildebeests, and perhaps lions resting in the shade. As the sun sets over the savannah, you'll return to your lodge.
Dinner and overnight at Vuma Hills Tented Camp
After a relaxed breakfast, you will set off for a full day of exploration inside Mikumi National Park. Your BMC guide knows the best spots to find the park's residents—lions resting in the shade, herds of elephants crossing the plains, and zebras grazing alongside wildebeests. The park is home to over 400 bird species, so keep your binoculars ready for lilac-breasted rollers and African fish eagles.
You will stop for a peaceful picnic lunch at a scenic spot inside the park, perhaps near the hippo pool where you can watch these enormous creatures wallow and play. The afternoon offers more gentle game viewing, with time to simply sit and absorb the tranquility. As the day cools, you will return to your lodge for dinner and another comfortable night, sharing stories of the day's encounters.
