Experience the best of two worlds on this extraordinary 4-day safari that seamlessly blends classic wildlife viewing with the unique magic of a coastal wilderness. Begin in Mikumi National Park, often called "Little Serengeti" for its vast floodplains teeming with elephants, lions, giraffes, and zebras against the backdrop of the Uluguru Mountains. Then journey to Saadani National Park, Tanzania's only wildlife sanctuary where the wild bush meets the Indian Ocean. Here you'll experience the surreal sight of elephants roaming near sandy beaches, hippos wallowing in river estuaries, and the chance to spot endangered green turtles nesting along pristine shores. Your BMC TOURS & SAFARI guide ensures seamless travel through these breathtaking landscapes, creating moments that linger long after the journey ends.
Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your Dar es Salaam hotel or agreed location and transfer to the SGR Station for your express train to Morogoro (departing @ 06:00 / 07:40h). Upon arrival in Morogoro, meet your BMC TOURS & SAFARIS guide for a short breakfast before taking a scenic drive to Mikumi National Park through the foothills of the Uluguru Mountains.
Enjoy mid-morning and afternoon game drives across Mikumi's vast savannahs and famous Mkata Floodplain ("Little Serengeti"). Watch for elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and lions beginning their evening hunt before returning to your lodge for dinner.
Dinner and overnight at Camp Bastian
After early breakfast, venture into Mikumi National Park for a full day of unhurried game viewing across diverse habitats—from open grasslands to acacia woodlands. Search for lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and impalas.
Stop for a peaceful picnic lunch near hippo pools while watching these enormous creatures wallow in shallow waters. Enjoy gentle afternoon exploration before returning to camp for dinner and evening relaxation.
Dinner and overnight at Camp Bastian
After breakfast, depart Mikumi and begin your scenic 5-6 hour journey toward Saadani National Park. Upon arrival at your beachside lodge, enjoy a freshly prepared lunch while gazing out at the Indian Ocean.
Set off on a late afternoon game drive where wildlife roams freely along the coastline—elephants emerging from coastal forests, giraffes silhouetted against ocean blues, and lions resting near sandy beaches just 50 meters from the surf before falling asleep to the sound of waves.
Overnight at Simply Saadani Camp
Wake before dawn for an early morning boat safari along the Wami River—glide past lush green mangrove banks watching pods of hippos lounge in shallows, crocodiles sunning on sandbanks, and colorful kingfishers and fish eagles calling across the water.
Return to the lodge for breakfast and refresh before taking your scenic drive back to Dar es Salaam. Arrive in the late afternoon for flexible drop-off at your hotel, the airport, or the ferry terminal if continuing to Zanzibar.
