Day 1 Fly to Nyerere Rufiji River Boat Safari

Your safari begins with a scenic flight from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park. As you descend over the vast wilderness, the Rufiji River snakes through forests and floodplains below. Upon landing at the airstrip, your private BMC TOURS & SAFARIS guide welcomes you and escorts you to your riverside camp. In the afternoon, embark on a boat safari along the Rufiji River, one of Tanzania's largest and most lifegiving waterways. Day 3 Full Day Game Drive Wild Dogs and Wilderness

Wake before dawn for an early morning game drive as the light spreads across Nyerere's vast landscapes. This park is one of the best places in Africa to see the endangered African wild dog (painted wolf), known for its remarkable hunting success rate and complex social structure. Day 4 Stiegler's Gorge and Second Boat Safari

Today you have a choice. Rise early for a second boat safari on the Rufiji River, exploring different channels and lagoons for new perspectives on the wildlife and birdlife. Alternatively, venture to Stiegler's Gorge, a dramatic canyon where the Rufiji River cuts through ancient rock formations. The gorge is named after a Swiss hunter who was killed by an elephant in 1907 and offers stunning scenery and rich history. After your chosen activity, enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush. In the afternoon, set out for a game drive in a different sector of the park, tracking wildlife as the light softens. Return to your camp for dinner and overnight, reflecting on the day's discoveries.

After a final morning game drive or boat safari whichever you prefer capture any last wildlife sightings before the day heats up. Return to your camp for breakfast and time to refresh. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a short walk or simply enjoy the riverside views. Transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar. Upon arrival, your BMC TOURS & SAFARIS driver meets you for transfer to your hotel or the airport.
