Frequently Asked Questions

Sangaiwe Tented Lodge is situated in a tranquil location on a hillside with beautiful views of Lake Burunge, close to the Sangaiwe Gate of Tarangire National Park, offering premium canvas tents on wooden platforms.
Lake Natron is an alkaline soda lake. The high salt levels and warm temperatures invite specialized microorganisms and halophilic cyanobacteria (spirulina) that produce vibrant red and orange pigments.
Yes, guided walks are safe. However, the water is highly alkaline (pH up to 10.5) and can be extremely hot (up to 60°C or 140°F), so visitors must not step or swim in the lake itself.
We recommend wearing quick-drying clothes and water shoes or sandals with good grip, as you will be wading through shallow mountain streams and walking on wet rocks during the hike.
Guided by an armed ranger, a walking safari lets you step out of the vehicle to explore animal tracks, examine botanical plants, and experience the sights and sounds of the African bush from a new perspective.
Lake Natron is the primary breeding ground for East Africa's lesser flamingos. The best viewing time is during the dry season from August to October, when breeding activity is highest.
