Tarangire River Wildlife Drive, Giant Baobabs & Large Elephant Herds
Your safari begins with a morning pickup from your Arusha hotel by your BMC TOURS & SAFARI guide. A scenic drive of approximately two hours brings you to Tarangire National Park, a wildlife haven named after the Tarangire River that sustains the park's incredible biodiversity. As you enter this stunning landscape dotted with ancient baobab trees, you'll immediately understand why it's called the "Land of Giants."
Your game drive reveals massive herds of elephants digging for water in the sandy riverbeds, while lions rest in the shade and leopards may be spotted draped over acacia branches. The park is also home to unusual fringe-eared oryx, long-necked gerenuk, and over 550 bird species. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated site overlooking the river, watching wildlife come and go. In the late afternoon, you exit the park and drive to your comfortable lodge.

An early breakfast prepares you for the highlight of your safari: the descent into the Ngorongoro Crater. Your BMC TOURS & SAFARI guide navigates the steep crater walls, and as you emerge onto the caldera floor, you enter a world of unparalleled natural beauty. This self-contained ecosystem is home to an astonishing concentration of wildlife, including the Big Five.
Spend the morning exploring the crater's diverse habitats—from the alkaline Lake Magadi, often pink with flamingos, to the Gorigor Swamp where hippos wallow and elephants graze. The open grasslands provide excellent opportunities to spot lions on the hunt, while the Lerai Forest shelters baboons and elusive leopards.
